I wish people who say 'Apple is restrictive' would say what they really mean, which is generally 'I have been doing it wrong ON PURPOSE AND IT DOESN'T WORK WHEN I DO IT WRONG'.

Well, no. No it fucking doesn't. WHAT A SURPRISE.

This week has been pretty good in that we're pretty much sorted as far as a house and moving goes. We're moving a few suburbs south to Strathpine, and while we will be a fair distance from the train station there, it's a nice walk and we could use the exercise. We still need to arrange a few more boxes, electricity, internet, etc. but on the whole we are ready to sign and walk away from this townhouse. :)

Still not sleeping great, but I'm going to get another nosepiece for my CPAP machine this week because this one is too small and combined with how congested I've been I just feel like I can't breathe. Which is not conducive to going to sleep where I actually fail to breathe pretty regularly.

Don't know what to do with myself today, might try to write something, will probably just play Draw Something and do laundry.

I want this table and six of these chairs, three in mint, three in ash grey. Your job is to tell me this would look awful, guys. Because I think that and a colour-combo centerpiece would look effing great.

Please repost this? I have never begged for one of my posts to be boosted. I am just so worried for my friends and want you to know.

According to this article, dated March 15, 2012:
http://www.digitaltrends.com/webnews/major-isps-turn-into-copyright-police-by-july-says-riaa/

"File-sharers, beware: By July 12, major US Internet service providers (ISPs) will voluntarily begin serving as copyright police for the entertainment industry, according to Cary Sherman, chief executive of the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The so-called “six-strikes” plan is said to be one of the most effective anti-piracy efforts ever established in the US."

The article goes on to give details. After six notices, internet providers will decide to throttle a person's internet speed, or cut it off altogether. I don't know if they will crack down on torrents only, or if it is up to the internet provider. I get the sense it is up to the internet provider. So some people could get away with downloading non torrents, while others might get their internet service cut off. I urge you to click it and read, as we all know people who download.

No more downloading eps of your favorite shows for vidding, gifs, or fanfiction art. No more downloading screencaps possibly. I'm so sorry my friends. I don't even know if BT Guard will work to protect you, but I would google it if I were you. It is a professional service that supposedly can protect you from the invasive eyes of your internet provider.

Just, my friends, please make each other aware. Please be aware of the date JULY 12TH. Mark your calendar and double check with your internet provider by then. If you start receiving notices of downloaded activity, this is why. And your internet service could be throttled or cut off.

Fox news confirms this:

Sleep study on Monday night went well, I guess, except there were tubes in my nose. I have a specialist appointment in a week or so, and I woke up about every two hours during the study, and took about 45 minutes to fall asleep each time, so... yeah. I don't know whether to hope there's a medical reason or not.

Took Monday to Wednesday off because I was trying to reset my sleep schedule over the weekend and my brain still wasn't really back on Thursday, but it seems to be doing okay today. Not great, mind you, but it's chugging along all right. XD

Our new iPads arrived today. Darrin may have jumped up and down a few times at the door in front of the delivery man. The delivery man may have walked away with the impression that D was slightly simple.

It was all very entertaining.

This weekend involves more cleaning, more packing, and more attempting to find a house. Hopefully also more writing. And lunch with Dad on Sunday, which I am looking forward to. :)

Soooo not making my April deadline. T_T Not without a miracle, anyway.

My sleep has been utterly rubbish lately. I'm taking a few days next week so I can try to reset myself, and having a sleep study done on Monday night to rule out sleep apnoea. Which, itself, is looking like a more and more likely conclusion because I actually noticed myself failing to breathe this morning and that reminded me that it's not the first time that's happened... I have noticed myself being slow to breathe in the past, didn't think anything of it. Not particularly worried now, either, just aware. Would be nice to have a physical explanation for poor sleep, I suppose.

Today I've gone through most of the garage and gotten rid of most of the rubbish in it, where rubbish is things that we don't want to keep and can therefore a) sell, b) give away, or c) bin.

I think we've already filled our actual bin, and I have something like nine boxes of books waiting to go to Lifeline. Probably a box and a bit that can go to Cash Converters or EB Games, and another box or so of things that I'm better off selling through eBay or similar (rare fandom items mostly), or passing on to relatives and internet friends. Not bad for half a Saturday's work after an hour of sleep last night!

I still need to go through the garage and pack up the things we actually do want to keep, photograph the furniture we're happy to sell, pack a suitcase with a fortnight's clothing and shoes, but we will be well and truly ready for this move by the time it happens, and we've cut down on so much CRAP that we would otherwise have to cart with us, I think it's going to be cheaper to move this time than it was when we moved 2-3h north of where we last lived. Even though we're potentially moving state this time. Yes, we are uncluttering champions, thankyou.

Seeing lots of Alyce, James, and Dominic lately, which has been awesome. <3 Still haven't seen Mum properly, except when she dropped in last weekend to criticise my cleaning and drop off baby photos. Attempting to arrange the opportunity to see Dad and immediate family without seeing the whole goddamn extended family as well, because I never get the chance to talk to him or play with the kids if the whole family is involved.

Have not been sleeping very well, or writing very much, probably because I am anticipating a fair amount of change in my immediate future, and while it's not exactly freaking me out, it's sending me into uber-planning mode. Which is not the most relaxing of modes.

Still, it's raining this afternoon, and my engagement ring should be ready within the next week or so. :) Which I am very much looking forward to.
cheloya: (OP >> swinging compass)
Well, by a lake, actually, but anyway -- today was my little oddson Dominic's name day celebration. :) He was six months old today, and I am now an officially named oddmother. It was a really lovely day, a little windy on the lake, but the perfect temperature, and not too bright or too grey. We had one two minute squall just before we left and that was it, it was awesome. Feeling pleasantly relaxed this evening, and going to try to write a little tonight and tomorrow morning before I leave for work.

Tomorrow is one last day of Virt frenzy, and then back to my regularly scheduled other frenzies. It's still going to be complicated until the end of March, but I think I'm over the crest of this metaphorical hill.

I hope. *raps smartly on the bench to her right*

Starting to get super drowsy, so it's time to start writing, and maybe to eat something light later on. Lunch on the lake and soaking up some sunlight has apparently been good for me.
cheloya: (DISNEY >> i cannot even)
1) Being ill. I feel like I deep-throated a pineapple. This had better move ahead to general stuffiness and feeling nauseated soon.

2) Having so many projects leap on me at the same time. There are about five separate "priority projects" at work right now, which is just horribly sad, and we also have a coworker in office instead of in a foreign country this week, so I have actually moved into negative time. At this point, I'm not sure I even have the time to review the bugs remaining to me, and move them all to the next release. Which is slightly frustrating.

3) My ability to write F&F quickly. I'm not sure how I thought this April deadline was going to work.

4) My dinner plans. I really want Sitar, but it's too fucking expensive and they don't deliver.

On the bright side, I discovered that my latest minion does life drawing on Tuesday nights, so I have someone to go with! This gives me happy.
cheloya: (CASTLE >> knew all along)
Potentially a really bad week for this, since I already know of two exceptions to the schedule (Mary Poppins on Wednesday night, and dinner with Alyce and James on Friday night). But that's okay. Friday can just be my night off.

WEEKDAYS:

21.30pm - 05.30am SLEEP
05.30am - 06.00am EXERCISE
06.00am - 06.30am SHOWER/BREAKFAST

09.00am - 17.30pm WORK / LUNCH
17.30pm - 19.00pm TRAVEL HOME / READ / WRITE / COLLAPSE ON COUCH
19.00pm - 21.00pm DINNER / TV / WRITING
21.00pm - 21.30pm READ / DOZE

WEEKENDS:

21.30pm - 05.30am SLEEP
05.30am - 06.00am EXERCISE
06.00am - 06.30am SHOWER/BREAKFAST
06.30am - 18.00pm WRITING, INTERSPERSED WITH CHORES (COOKING, CLEANING, ETC.)
18.00pm - 21.00pm DINNER / MOVIE
21.00pm - 21.30pm READ / DOZE

This may also be altered depending on when my natural waking time works out to be. Because right now it's like I wake up three or four times during the process of dawn, and conk out completely immediately after the sun comes up, for three or four hours. This is somewhat irritating. So I may need to start getting up for the day whenever I wake up and see daylight.

Probably going to write more this evening, but given we haven't eaten yet I am not certain. Better to log progress now.

The last week has been a fog of exhaustion. I've been reading rather than writing, and waking up at 11am instead of 7am, despite alarms.

I'm really enjoying A Song of Ice and Fire, though. Characters of interest include Sansa, Arya, Sandor Clegane, and Tyrion Lannister. I would like to personally take the eyelids off a number of characters, but I suppose that would be unsporting.

In the list of other awesome things, The Jurassic Park Theme, 1000x Slower is pretty fucking awesome. I will have this at my wedding, contributing to the ambiance of the surroundings, and when people go home they will be bewildered to discover that they want to watch Jurassic Park. That is all.

Spent a little time painting, then and today, so I count myself satisfied with events. Also finished reading A Clash of Kings, so now I get to start on A Storm of Swords, in which I imagine I will continue to be sad that Sansa Stark and Sandor Clegane have not made any babies.

I am now at the end of my detailed notes and need to begin re-structuring on the fly again. Drat, drat, and double-drat.

cheloya: (TRANSFORMERS >> VIOLENTLY HAPPY)
So there's a few things I'll be doing for the next few months. The first is going back onto the Paleo Diet, in which I basically avoid processed grains and all things super-starchy as much as is feasible. The second is the One Million Kilogram Challenge, which I am mostly in to support the girls on the blog. The third is the Army Fitness regime, minus the cardio, because there are things one can and cannot do with breasts, and running five kilometers a day is one of the cannots.

A sample day on the Paleo Diet will, for me, involve:
  • 2-4 cups of tea with minimal sugar
  • a few spoonfuls of yoghurt (half a typical tub)
  • half a banana, half a dozen grapes, a dozen blueberries -- and, next week, a few strawberries
  • a hard-boiled egg
  • carrot and/or celery sticks with hommus or salsa (rice crackers for Darrin, because he hates uncooked veggies)
  • three or four lettuce cups of san choy bao
  • a small handful of cashews and dried apricots
  • about two cups of meat and vegetable stew, in this case my moroccan beef

Today we kinda skipped the San Choy Bao because, well, haven't made it yet. Shhh. But that will happen tomorrow. The yoghurt and assorted fruit breakfast, and the carrot and hommus snack, though? Mnnnfffff. I really do like these things, it's just that often I forget how easy they are, or that they don't hate me.

The Army Fitness thing is pretty much trying to do both situps and pushups on a regular basis, with maybe some additional weights or walking whenever I can manage it. I'd like to do the running as well, but, well, HH cups are not exactly conducive to that sort of thing, just sayin'.

Aside from all of THAT... I'm not finished F&F yet. This is a problem that must be rectified.
