Soooo not making my April deadline. T_T Not without a miracle, anyway.

My sleep has been utterly rubbish lately. I'm taking a few days next week so I can try to reset myself, and having a sleep study done on Monday night to rule out sleep apnoea. Which, itself, is looking like a more and more likely conclusion because I actually noticed myself failing to breathe this morning and that reminded me that it's not the first time that's happened... I have noticed myself being slow to breathe in the past, didn't think anything of it. Not particularly worried now, either, just aware. Would be nice to have a physical explanation for poor sleep, I suppose.

We actually have some romance budding. Some decent romance. In appropriately stressful times. I am relieved.

Probably going to write more this evening, but given we haven't eaten yet I am not certain. Better to log progress now.

The last week has been a fog of exhaustion. I've been reading rather than writing, and waking up at 11am instead of 7am, despite alarms.

I'm really enjoying A Song of Ice and Fire, though. Characters of interest include Sansa, Arya, Sandor Clegane, and Tyrion Lannister. I would like to personally take the eyelids off a number of characters, but I suppose that would be unsporting.

In the list of other awesome things, The Jurassic Park Theme, 1000x Slower is pretty fucking awesome. I will have this at my wedding, contributing to the ambiance of the surroundings, and when people go home they will be bewildered to discover that they want to watch Jurassic Park. That is all.

Although, to be fair, I was watching The Thing at the same time. So I probably only spent about fifteen minutes writing.

Incidentally, this icon is how Yuffie feels about Vincent right now.

Spent a little time painting, then and today, so I count myself satisfied with events. Also finished reading A Clash of Kings, so now I get to start on A Storm of Swords, in which I imagine I will continue to be sad that Sansa Stark and Sandor Clegane have not made any babies.

I am now at the end of my detailed notes and need to begin re-structuring on the fly again. Drat, drat, and double-drat.

Non-F&F writing things discovered today: Signourney is basically a giant spider with a human torso as a hat. That is all.

I think I'm closer to the end of this than I initially thought I would be, so I'm going with 100k as its final length right now. I think I can do it. I hope I can do it, because I only have two months left in which I am willing to work on this damn thing instead of my original work. XD

Things discovered this evening: apparently Vincent has weapons stashed all over his house. Like, in walls. So he can get to them but probably no one else will realise they are there. Because that's not creepy at all.

Might not seem like a lot, but that's about five hundred words of rewrite thanks to my lovely Katie who has the learnings as far as scary writing goes. Still not quite there, but better. Hopefully I can sleep soon, though I wouldn't lay much money on it.

Slowwwwwly. And I may need help rewriting that psychotic break. But getting there.

Incidentally, tonight marks the first time I've looked at this version of F&F and seen good work that is getting closer to completion, instead of incomplete work that still has a long way to go. W00t.

Haven't gotten a lot done this week, either at work or at home. At work, I've actually done a decent amount but didn't feel like I was, because I was waiting for people to send me information. At home, I've chosen to spend my evenings absorbing instead of creating -- which is sometimes necessary, but it isn't helping me finish F&F before NaNo.

I'm now about halfway through half a dozen separate novels:
1) In Cold Blood by Truman Capote
2) The Eye of the World by Robert Jordan
3) Wizard and Glass by Stephen King
4) The Tempering of Men by Elizabeth Bear and Sarah Monette
5) Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb

Okay, only five, but I want to make the point that I haven't read like that for years. o.0 Like... probably since early high school. Nice that I have the capacity for that many stories again, but really, augh.

Also considering drawing more seriously. Mostly because of things Chira has said and I realised were not true of my characters right now. Even though most of them will be written rather than read, I'd like to have them visually different as well.

I'd like to take up life drawing classes but I still have no idea where to do that.

I'd also like if I could exercise without my body trying to fracture underneath me, but today is not that day. Headache the size of the country, abdomen not much better than that -- but at least it's better than yesterday.

Woke up with my left arm completely numb this morning, which hasn't happened in a while. Ate extremely badly today, but all in service of farewelling a coworker, so that's all right. Besides, the cupcakes were amazing, as those of you who follow my Twitter stream will know.

Tonight I am trying to write some more of F&F. Will post progress when I give up and collapse into bed. Hoping to hit 36k on the rewrite, or finish chapter eleven -- whatever comes first.

[EDIT] Apparently neither. Oh well.

Shoulders are hurting me, guts are hurting me, but it has been a good weekend. I have managed to stick to Paleo -- which, honestly, is pretty much the Aitkins diet. Do not approve. But at least the science behind this makes sense to me.

Didn't get to visit the bub again today, but we'll drop in tomorrow after work.

Got two three cuddles from Scruff in bed today, which was lovely. <3 And very confusing.

Am slightly incoherent now. Can you tell? This is why I should stop writing.

So, things I have done recently:

  • booked tickets for myself and Darrin to see QI live in Brisbane in October (*shriek*);

  • booked tickets for myself and Darrin to visit [personal profile] ignite and [profile] howl_for_words for [personal profile] ignite's birthday in December (*SHRIEK*);

  • watched the first season of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic;

  • seriously considered ficcing for same, because the fandom is Doing It Wrong;

  • had every Pinkie Pie song stuck in my head at least twice;

  • joined the Splat On! blog at [personal profile] alleyne's command;

  • started jotting down topics that I might care to post there;

  • found myself in the same week as the birth of my godson (*hyperventilation* FIVE DAYS);

  • had cuddles from Scruff during daylight hours with no prompting;

  • gotten sick, but only a little bit sick;

  • finally had movement on a thing that was behind at work;

  • written bits and pieces of F&F; and

  • thought a lot about why I'm so dissatisfied with AtM the way it is.

So I guess I'll get back to you when I'm finished with F&F and have moved on to the lesbian pony fic. |D; It's good to be having ideas again, but honestly? Hands are a bit fucky today, so may not do a great deal of writing tonight, but have spent most of the day listening to Katie describing various parts of her world, so I'm definitely in the mood for it.

I was meant to work from home today, but I went in because I had a meeting with a coworker, who ended up taking the day off. I was going to go to Mum's place for dinner tonight, too, but she's sick. I probably only worked six hours today given travel and sleep, but after the week I had I feel okay about that. I was productive, too, which is nice.

Also finally have my group certificate, so I can do my tax return pretty soon.
